Lean method: guidelines for the engineering company

metalworking company - lean method - digital fair

Within an engineering company the monitoring of production internal is essential to have a control precise on processing times, unnecessary activities and resources, and to reduce waste. This is because in order to offer to the customer a valuable service, which deserves to be chosen, it is necessary to invest in improvement policies.

One of the most effective methods for to monitor, program e standardize i processes productive in the engineering industry is the lean method. In fact, this methodology has as its main objectives the elimination of waste, the reduction of cycle times and the optimization of resources.

But what can a metalworking company do in practice that wants to introduce the Lean method? Here are some guidelines:

1) IDENTIFY WASTE: optimal management of production processes involves the identification, reduction and, if possible, elimination of waste. However, when we talk about waste reduction we are not referring only to the need to optimize production times. We also refer to the need to limit The production waste, to the importance of aā€¢ innovative business organization based on the use of technologies and digitalization of internal and external processes, as well as the active and continued promotion of the services we offer through business development, marketing and communication systems (letter "I" of our logo actually stands for "Innovation"); effective of internal movements, and the need to produce only what is required. This is because proper waste control, as well as avoid slowdowns in production, it can compensate for the loss of important resources for the company.

2) MAPPING YOUR WORKFLOW: in order to optimize the production processes it is necessary to carefully analyze the individual activities carried out in the company in order to locate any areas of improvement. Once the processes are identified, it is necessary to establish a hierarchy clear of organisers' activities to be carried out in the production phase, in order to guarantee good coordination and avoid long waiting times, and guarantee the timely delivery of the product, service or processing. The goal is to create an optimized sequence of activities, reducing waste and improving the efficiency of the production process.

3) STANDARDIZE PROCESSES: defining clear working methods is important to improve the organization of company processes, speed up production and delivery times, and guarantee a high quality service. The standardization of processes first provides for theanalysis of the different phases of the productive process, taking into account the type of service offered by the company. The second phase instead provides for the organization of the actions, for define methods e standard strategies, to be put into practice whenever a new project is undertaken. The goal is to establish a sequence of coherent actions, which can be repeated, for optimize the times of design e realization of a post-sales service or processing.

Why introduce the Lean method in the organization of company production processes?

The introduction of the Lean method in the organization of production processes of a metalworking company is beneficial not only for monitor and structure effectively the various stages of the processes, but also to allow metalworking companies to effectively address the challenges of the market, placing itself in a prominent position compared to any competitors.
