Mechanical workshops: which are the most used metals?

workshops

Within the mechanical workshops, specific processes are carried out on metals, to transform them into finished products.

However, there are metals which, due to their malleability, thermal conductivity and resistance, are mostly used in workshops.

WHAT METALS ARE IT ABOUT?

- Steel

Specifically, the steel most used in mechanical processing is nitriding steel since, due to its composition, it is very resistant to corrosion and oxidation processes. This metal is mainly used for the production of bushings, rollers, toothed wheels and pins.

- Aluminum

Aluminum is one of the most commonly used metals in mechanical workshops, as it is easy to work with and light. This metal is used above all for the production of pipes, coatings, packaging, parts of machinery because due to its characteristics, it is highly resistant to the oxidation process.

- Copper

Copper is a widely used metal due to the high thermal conductivity that characterizes it. In fact, it is widely used in the plumbing and heating systems sector, but also for the construction of generators, radiators and motors.

- Brass

Brass, like aluminum, is an easily workable and particularly malleable metal. In addition, it also has good thermal conductivity, although lower than that of copper and steel. This metal is mainly used in the production of valves, small metal parts, pipes, but also for the construction of electrical equipment.

Therefore, depending on the type of product that will be made in the mechanical workshops, the use of one metal will be preferred over another.
